How can you tell if your child is having difficulty reading? What are some things you can do at home to teach your child how to read? What do you do if you suspect a disability? Tammie Sebastian, Information Specialist/Trainer at the Ohio Coalition for the Education of Children with Disabilities, will teach participants the basic foundational steps needed to learn to read. Rhyme, rhythm, pictures, phonemic awareness will be discussed and applied with a hands-on approach. Story telling techniques will be demonstrated. How to recognize if a child is having difficulty reading and what some of the warning signs of a possible disability will also be discussed. Content geared toward preschool and elementary school families. The Speaker Series in Westlake is presented in partnership with Westlake Porter Public Library.

'Being Wonderful' Workshop

Being Wonderful is a community workshop that weaves together the connected and energizing power of music, dance, poetry, drumming and idea exploration around the idea of being wonderful and living more wonderfully. The workshop invites you to reconnect to your personal wonderful strengths, while also expand your insights into the wonder of the cosmos, and how you are here to fit into that cosmic wonder.

Facilitated by Minister Georgia Reash, president of LEAD Vision, leadership trainer and sustainable community specialist, Being Wonderful is an experiential, participatory two-hour experience that will invite laughter and some good old-fashioned meaningful dialogue. Networking and resource tables will be available from 8:00-9:00 p.m.
