Bay Women's Club grants scholarships

Makaela Mertic, Mary Kate Price, Danielle Gaudino, Juliana Reising, Katarina Chesterfield

The Bay Village Women's Club Foundation has awarded a $2,2000 scholarship to each of six Bay High School 2020 graduates. The recipients excelled in scholarship, leadership and character.

Katarina Chesterfield will be attending the Farmer School of Business at Miami University. In high school she was on the Bay High cross-country team and was a member of the Youth Philanthropy Foundation. She was a volunteer cook for the Village Project and worked for the Bay Village Recreation Department.

Neuroscience and forensic psychology will be the academic majors of Jill Durkin in her college career at John Carroll University. At Bay High she participated in Model U.N., the Bay High orchestra and ran in for the cross-country team. Jill has worked on beach clean-ups and has concern about keeping Lake Erie clean.

Danielle Gaudino will be enrolled at The Ohio State University where she will major in criminology. Danielle served as captain of the swim team, was elected to Student Council, was a Bay High Rockette, and was secretary of the Show Choir as well as a member of the A Capella Choir during her high school years.

As a student at the University of Cincinnati, Makaela Mertic will study journalism on a pre-law track. She's been a varsity athlete in track and field and on the soccer team for 3 years. She was a member of the Bay Tribune staff and a singer in the A Capella Choir.

The University of Dayton will be the destination of Mary Kate Price where she will study business. She's been a class officer, on Student Council, volunteered at Youth Challenge and one of a group of young women who raised money for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. Mary Kate was also on the soccer and lacrosse teams and a member of the Youth Philanthropy Foundation.

Scholar Juliana Reising will be attending The Ohio State University to major in zoology. She has been a member of 3 bands at Bay High School including the Marching Band, Jazz Band and Symphonic Band. She was a member of Academic Challenge and the Thespian Society. Juliana has participated in Bay High School drama productions for years and assisted with the Bay Middle School Drama Club.
