Westlake Rec has your cure for cabin fever

Families enjoy time outside during the Winter Carnival.

Can you believe that spring is only two weeks away or can it not get here fast enough? Well the Westlake Recreation Center has programs to keep you busy and your mind off the winter weather. Venture on up to the Rec Center or check us out online to see the programs that we have to offer. Here are some programs and events that will start up here in the near future. Don't miss out on the fun. Sign up before they start.

Give yourself a break and get a chance to work out and not have to worry about finding a sitter for the kids. We can help you out. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday starting the week of March 15 at 10 a.m., Mom and Munchkin will allow moms to bring their child to the Rec Center and work out. An instructor will teach an exercise class while your child is being looked after in the gym.

Sign up for Junior Hapkido for kids ages 5-13. This fun martial arts program starts March 15. Not only will your child learn the martial arts portion, this class will help with concentration, self-discipline and focus.

Yoga for Kids is an enjoyable way for the kids to have the chance to learn various yoga poses. This fun class will also teach the kids how to use their energy and how to focus on their breathing. Classes start March 15.

Westlake Recreation is hosting a March Madness Basketball Tournament. Boys will play on Saturday, March 20, and girls will play on Tuesday, March 23. Times will be announced after signup. The double-elimination tournament will have grade divisions of grades 3/4, grades 5/6 and grades 7/8. Registration packets may be picked up at the Westlake Recreation Center or by visiting our website at www.wrlec.org. For more information please call Patti Hageman at 440-808-5700, ext. 3428.

Do you like using watercolors to create nice artwork or would you like to learn how? Learn new techniques even if you are a beginner or advanced watercolor artist. Watercolor for Adults will help artists develop their paintings into beautiful pieces of art work. Classes start March 15.

Here’s a class that will help improve your swing or practice for when the weather warms up. Indoor Golf Lessons will start March 16 with an instructor working with you and your swing. This class will cover all shots you would need to know for on the golf course. Sign up for this class and to help lower your golf score.
