Supporter praises Peggy Cleary
To the Editor –
Of those running for Ohio State Representative from District 16 (Bay Village, Rocky River, Westlake, North Olmsted and Fairview Park), Peggy Cleary is the only candidate who is a life-long resident of Cleveland’s western suburbs. My husband and I were born and raised in the Chicago/Milwaukee area, and moved to Cleveland’s western suburbs in 1971.
Raising four children and seven grandchildren in this area has been truly wonderful, thanks to dedicated public servants like Peggy Cleary. We have been blessed to have Peggy as a neighbor and a friend. Peggy has served the families and children of our community for over 20 years as a licensed social worker, bringing understanding and assistance to many citizens over the years.
Peggy then took her strong skills and passionate voice to a higher level and was elected to Fairview Park’s City Council in 2005. Peggy’s work and drive to serve her community was so recognized and appreciated that the voters returned her to the City Council again in 2007 and, once more, in 2009.
Peggy would now like to make a difference for all of us at the state level, so she has launched a campaign, supported by many enthusiastic volunteers and family members, running for the statehouse to represent our 16th District. Peggy understands the struggles of our families and, therefore, puts her energies first and foremost into dynamic economic and job development strategies for our region.
Having served on the Northeast Ohio City Council Association Board since 2008, and now elected as an officer of the Board, Peggy understands the larger, regional approach of financially efficient collaboration and cooperation, which makes sense for all of us, and can consolidate expenses and shared resources. Peggy chairs the City of Fairview Park’s Finance Committee, overseeing a $23 million budget, with skills to balance budgets large and small.
With three Democratic candidates running in the May 4th primary, Peggy is the only one endorsed by the Ohio Democratic Party and The Plain Dealer, recognizing her strength, talent and experience, above all others. Many of our elected leaders, local organizations and unions have additionally endorsed Peggy.
Peggy is also dedicated to improving access to affordable higher education, along with health and human services, for our families. For a better future for our children and grandchildren, we urge you to support Peggy Cleary for State Representative from the 16th District.
