2010 Westlake Corporate Challenge teams have fun for charity

Mayor Clough stands in with members of the Lake Erie Electric team, winner of the  2010 Westlake Corporate Challenge.

Wednesday, August 4, was the kick-off for the 4th annual Westlake Corporate Challenge which featured seven local companies and businesses. Participating in this years Challenge were: City of Westlake, Fidelity Investments, Lake Erie Electric, Pharmacy Management Group, Rock Point Church, Sea Land Chemical and Westlake Village Retirement Community.

As the four-day challenge went along, the companies and businesses had to compete in various team-building events. Events ranged from a food drive and blood drive to cardboard boat races and kickball. The teams had a great time and got to show off their competitive side. Katy Ostromek from Pharmacy Management Group (PMG) said, “Pharmacy Management Group had a fantastic time. Every event was both fun and challenging. The teams we played against were good spirited and fun to share the court with.”

At the end of this friendly and good-natured challenge only one team could claim the title as the 2010 Westlake Corporate Challenge Champion. This went to Lake Erie Electric. “We really had a lot of fun,” said Armando Francisco, Team Captain of Lake Erie Electric. “Westlake’s Corporate Challenge had many diverse events that allowed everyone to participate. We are looking forward to do it again.”

As a whole, all seven companies and businesses collected 2,317 non-perishable food items that were donated to the Westlake Assistance Program as part of the Corporate Challenge’s Food Drive. To go along with the giving spirit of the Corporate Challenge, the seven teams also donated 85 pints of blood as part of the Blood Drive.

We like to thank those teams mentioned above who participated in the 4th annual Westlake Corporate Challenge. Thanks to everyone to took part in the events and made them friendly and fun. A congratulation goes out to Lake Erie Electric on winning the challenge cup. We look forward to everyone coming back next year and having another successful and fun Corporate Challenge.
