Westlake resident named top volunteer by Cuyahoga County GOP

Cynthea Sabolich, this year's Cuyahoga County GOP Volunteer of the Year, met with presidential candidate Mitt Romney after the annual Lincoln Day dinner at Landerhaven.

On Feb. 16, before a crowd of over 1,200 at Landerhaven in Mayfield Heights, Cuyahoga County Republican Party Chairman Rob Frost and former executive director Steven Backiel presented Westlake resident Cynthea Sabolich the Dorothy S. Taft Female Volunteer of the Year award at the Annual Cuyahoga County Republican Lincoln Day dinner.

"Cynthea Sabolich has been a volunteer for Republican candidates for quite some time; she worked on Ed Herman’s campaign for Congress in 2004," said Chairman Frost. "But it was the first few months of the Obama administration, and the awakening of the Tea Party movement, that truly spurred Cynthea and others like her to action.

"With her role in the founding of the Westshore Tea Party Cynthea has been bringing ever more people over from apathy to activism. We know that the Tea Party is not the Republican Party, and the Republican Party is not the Tea Party. But Cynthea’s leadership in 2011 showed that we are at our best when we work together.

"She was tireless in her efforts on behalf of local candidates in Westlake and the Westshore and beyond, persistent in her efforts of outreach and party building in the minority communities, and most of all diligent and effective in coordinating the ground game of yard signs and door knocking on behalf of the statewide issues."

Mrs. Sabolich, Dennis Tidmore (Male Volunteer of the Year), and Lucy Selvaggio-Stickan (2012 Ross R. Paul Award recipient) met privately with featured guest speaker Mitt Romney after his well received speech.
