Spy-training fun at the Bay Village Library

Calling all spies and private eyes! Come to the Bay Village Branch Library on Monday, June 11, from 1-4 p.m. and participate in Mission Training, go on a Mission Treasure Hunt around the library and create a spy craft! And of course at the end of the training, you’ll want to sign up for the Summer Reading Game, Mission Possible: READ.

Your Spy Mission Training will consist of several tasks to be completed. See how fast your reactions are by catching the reaction tester. Spies need to be sharp and quick to react!

Continue on and become a master of disguises by changing the way you look, walk and carry yourself. Look in the mirror – do you recognize yourself?

Spies don’t use their real names, so you’ll have to use a code name. Use a chart to figure out your new name, and learn a secret handshake. Spies can’t be too careful!

You’ll also need to know how to communicate with other spies so you’ll need to learn invisible writing. A stop at this station will have you writing secret communiques!

And finally, a spy must have a good memory and be observant. Study objects on a tray for one minute, and see how many you can remember when the tray is taken away.

After visiting all of the stations, you will have completed your Spy Training. Go out into the library to accept your first mission – a treasure hunt. You can play with either written clues, or use a QR Code with your phone. Questions and clues will lead you to different areas and bring you back to the Information Desk to turn in the collected information. Should you complete your mission  successfully, your status will be elevated to Super Agent!

A spy craft will also be available, and coloring sheets and toys will be set out for the tiniest agents. Pizza will be served during the afternoon to keep your energy up, and even spies love a party!

Reading, of course, is very important to spies so sign up for the Summer Reading Game before you leave. Simply stop at a desk and fill out a registration form. We’ll give you a game board and you can begin the most important and fun mission of Summer Reading. We look forward to seeing you on June 11!
