Unity Spiritual Center to screen movie that takes the 'Hell out of self help'
Unity Spiritual Center's Spiritual Cinema will show "The Keeper of the Keys," which features Cleveland native and nationally recognized gratitude expert Lisa Ryan. The movie will be shown with an intro by Lisa, at 7 p.m. on June 15, and it will be followed by a discussion group led by Lisa.
"The Keeper of the Keys" is the first funny personal-development movie; it is a hybrid that combines a self-help documentary with a humorous fictional story line. The film's goal is to empower viewers by "taking the Hell" out of self-help.
The movie stars Jack Canfield, co-creator of the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" franchise, Dr. John Gray, author of "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus"and Marci Shimoff, author of "Happy for No Reason," "Love for No Reason" and "Chicken Soup for the Woman's Soul."The movie also features 15 experts from as far away as the United Kingdom, including Ryan.
In the movie, experts share deeply personal stories of challenges, successes and overcoming adversity.
"This movie depicts a personal development breakthrough in the fictional character's journey through tough times," Ryan said. "Audiences will experience authentic messages of inspiration and motivation as well as tools for dealing more effectively with life's obstacles. I'm honored to be a featured expert in this production."
Ryan added, "The timing of this movie is perfect. 'The Keeper of the Keys' will make a positive difference in the lives of everyone who sees it. It was a pleasure to work alongside some of the most respected leaders in the fields of success and personal development."
The movie was produced by Robin Jay, president of the Las Vegas Convention Speakers Bureau. Jay said, "Ever since the success of 'The Secret,' self-help films have followed a similar formula of delivering endless sound bites from dozens of talking heads. I think we have to engage the viewers before we can empower them, and there was no better way to do that than to make this movie funny."
Unity Spiritual Center is located at 23855 Detroit Rd. in Westlake. The cost for the Spiritual Cinema is $10.
