Calling all Special Olympians to the third annual Westlake competition

The Westlake Kiwanis family and Westlake City Schools are holding their third annual Special Olympics on Saturday, July 14, at the Westlake High School track. Check-in time is 10 a.m. and the opening ceremonies will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a parade around the WHS track carrying the Special Olympic torch.

The event will be open to anyone who qualifies for the Special Olympics, age seven through adult, from Northeast Ohio. Applications may be printed online at www.westlakespecialolympics.blogspot.com or picked up at the Westlake Board of Education, 27200 Hilliard Blvd.

There will be competition in the following track events: 50-meter dash, 200-meter run, 25-meter assisted walk, 25-meter independent walk and 25-meter wheelchair race, both independent and assisted. Field events will consist of standing long jump, softball throw and wheelchair softball throw.
