Unity offers peace and meditation in October with labyrinth walk and prayer bead workshop

"The mind can go in a thousand directions. But on this beautiful path, I walk in peace. With each step, a gentle wind blows. With each step, a flower blooms." – Thich Nhat Hanh, Vietnamese Buddhist monk

In the month of October, Unity Spiritual Center is offering those who are seeking ways to pray a variety of programs that will open new doors to prayer. For example, on Saturday, Oct. 6, from 10 a.m. to noon, you can give yourself the gift of a Saturday morning and join in the ancient practice of labyrinth walking. You will learn from a short lecture what's behind the growing attraction of the mysterious labyrinth and why it is being revived in popular culture. It is a powerful tool for transformation whether you are seeking healing, exploring the next steps on your personal life path, exploring your own soul work or you just want to learn what the labyrinth is all about.

Unity Spiritual Center's campus at 23855 Detroit Rd. in Westlake offers a beautiful labyrinth which is open to the public 365 days a year. Located in the southwestern corner of the campus, the Labyrinth at Unity beckons to you every day, but especially on Oct. 6, when you can join others for a brief program followed by a labyrinth walk. Afterwards, you can share your experience while enjoying coffee and pastries.

Walking the labyrinth serves as a source of revelation and healing. The walk engages body and spirit, connecting heaven and earth; and it can be a powerful way to realign with your personal Divine in a moving meditation.

SIx days later, on Oct. 12, you can create your own prayer bracelet at the Prayer Bead Workshop from 6:30 to 9 p.m. This workshop is an evening of fun, recreation, meditation and prayer. You can start the evening with a light dinner of pizza and a beverage and then learn how to make a bracelet or string of beads to assist you in your own personal prayer time. These bracelets can help you concentrate and "go within" as well as being a source of comfot in stressful times.

At the end of the workshop, there will be a blessing and a meditation with the beads.

Preregistation for the Prayer Bead Workshop is required by Friday, Oct. 5, on the Unity website, www.unityspiritualcenter.com. Cost for the workshop is $15. For more information, call 440-835-0400.
