Westlake: there's an app for that
Several months ago, business owners Steve Novak and Cindy Griffiths-Novak attended a Westshore Chamber of Commerce meeting and struck up a conversation with a fellow member during the networking session. He showed Steve and Cindy the Experience Lakewood iPhone app, and the couple immediately saw the opportunity a smartphone app would provide Westlake's businesses. Steve and Cindy live, work and volunteer their time in Westlake, and are always looking for ways to enhance the city they love.
The next day Steve contacted Barb Cagley, the creator of the app. That phone conversation was the first step in the creation of the Experience Westlake app. "We knew we were going to do this before we even left the chamber meeting," Novak said.
The Experience Westlake iPhone app allows users to find locations, phone numbers and special offers from Westlake businesses. It is also a new opportunity for businesses to promote themselves, by subscribing to the app they can post special offers, information about their business or add a listing to the event calendar.
"We have quite a variety of subscribers on board already: Crocker Park, the City of Westlake, salons, auto care, healthcare facilities and restaurants," states Novak, who is contacting businesses daily getting the word out.
