Yoga studio opens in Westlake

Krysia Maciuszko instructs a yoga class in the tree pose.

Krysia Maciuszko grew up in Berea but lived and worked in Scottsdale and Los Angeles for several years before returning to Cleveland. It has been her dream since 2003 to open her own yoga studio. While working toward her Ph.D. in nursing at Case Western Reserve University, she wrote a yoga studio business plan for a doctoral-level course, but did not expect to implement it until sometime later. However, with her professor’s encouragement, she decided she was “finally at the right place at the right time to do it,” Krysia said. “It is the only thing I have ever really wanted to do.”

Krysia found the perfect place, next to Bella Capelli on Center Ridge Road in Westlake. “I’ve done my homework, and I think there is a need for more yoga in this area,” says Krysia. In her new space she created two studios, one a 1,000-square-foot area that could easily hold 50 students, and the second with over 500 square feet that can accommodate 25 students.

Krysia Energy Yoga offers both heated and unheated classes, beginner level, intermediate and advanced classes.
“We offer the most variety in terms of specialty classes, like yoga for kids and prenatal yoga.” The studio also has power yoga, Zumba and deep stretch, aka “yin yoga.”

“Our teachers are all genuine and authentic. We celebrate individuality in both instructors and students.” All instructors are certified registered yoga teachers with the Yoga Alliance, having completed at least 200 hours of yoga teacher training.

To celebrate the grand opening, Krysia Energy Yoga will offer a free class on Friday, Oct. 5, 6-7:20 p.m., followed by a wine and hors d’oeuvres reception until 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, is free all day, including complimentary classes, chair massage and Arbonne skin care products.

Krysia Energy Yoga is located at 24350 Center Ridge Rd., Westlake; 440-471-4749; www.krysiaenergy.com.
