Westlake Porter Public Library lends a hand to powerless residents
Westlake Porter Public Library will stay open until 10 p.m. on Wednesday, October 31 for the benefit of local residents who are finding respite there from their powerless homes. On Tuesday the library was packed with visitors seeking to charge their cell phones and laptops, access the Internet, find some warmth or get a hot beverage from the café, Picc-a-Deli at Porter.
In addition, the library has arranged an impromptu free “Blackout Movie Fest” which will run most of the day today (October 31). Movie times are 1:30, 3:30 and 6 p.m. and there are offerings suitable for various ages. No registration is required. Here is the line-up:
1:30 p.m. - Greg and Roderick are back from summer camp, and their parents are trying hard to get them to get along.
3:30 p.m. - A mad scientist's hunchback assistant wants to break out on his own and win the annual science fair in this animated feature from 2008
6:00 p.m. - Three chipmunks get stranded on a deserted island.
1:30 p.m. - Children from the twelve districts compete in a fight to the death in this teen favorite.
3:30 p.m. - Tyler Perry's latest installment in his series featuring his over-the-top female alter ego, whose family takes care of a witness who is under witness protection.
6:00 p.m. - Opposites attract in this story about the all-important high school dance.
