Spring Green Garden Show coming to Bay on May 18

The Bay Village Green Team is hosting sustainable gardening event at the Bay Community Garden, located on the corner of Wolf and Forestview roads, on May 18, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Spring Green Garden Show is a free, family-friendly event promoting organic gardening and other green ideas for your home. Visitors will have a chance to experience the beauty of the community garden and meet the Bay Village Green Team volunteers.

The show will feature children’s activities. Children can learn how to make cool crafts from recycled materials or work the Enviroscape Model to learn about the importance of soil and water conservation. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Lake Erie Nature & Science Center will have some interesting animals on site.

There will be presentations throughout the day on “green gardening” topics such as small plot gardening, backyard composting and urban beekeeping. Various local vendors will have displays focusing on organic lawn and garden care, sustainable landscape design, rain barrels and organic gardening products. Refreshments will be available.

There will be a silent auction featuring green gardening products and services. Residents are encouraged to walk or ride their bike to the event, and the first 50 people to walk or bike in will receive a free gift. Proceeds from the garden show will will benefit the Bay Village Green Team.
