BAYarts Summer Intensive Challenge

Beginning in August, high school students to adults can participate in BAYarts' popular workshops that offer intensive focus on areas artists of all levels might want to try for the first time or hone in on an area they've had experience in.

Students include professionals, high school and college students, first timers and BAYarts regulars. Students can sign up for one block or two, the programming catering to what BAYarts educators feel students have been requesting or want to test in the curriculum.

Choices range from Encaustic painting with multi-talented artist Erin Schectman, a professional illustrator and member of The Rustbelt Monster Collective; Plein air landscapes with master oil painter Chrisopher Leeper; Charcoal Portrait Drawing with Dino Massaroni, award-winning member of the Portrait Society of America and Ohio Plein Air Society; Watercolor Filters, a technique of applying layers of watercolor over various filtering objects with Joyce Bolte of The Erie Shore, Aquarelle and Westshore Art Leagues; Drawing en Plein air using the scenic surrounding of Huntington Reservation for inspiration with instructor Chris Birchfield of CIA and Zygote Press; Figure Painting in Oil or Acrylic with Martin O'Connor, multi-award winning painter and Screw Factory member; or Enameling with Kate Ward Terry, professional artist and instructor at BAYarts and Art House.

Blocks are on August 3 & 4, and August 5 & 6; two full days with a break each day for lunch. More information and online registration at or call 440-871-6543.
