Saturday, Sept. 7 (2-2:30 p.m.) Junior Brick Builders! – Let's build with Duplos! Bring your imagination and we'll provide the bricks. Ages 3-5 only. No registration.

Monday, Sept. 9 (4-5:45 p.m.) Teen Lounge – Need a place to hang out after school? Come to WPPL's Teen Lounge on Monday afternoons! We've got computers, video games, board games, snacks and more!

Tuesday, Sept. 10 – Fall Storytimes begin – No registration is necessary, but group size is limited to 58. Details are as follows:

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays (9:30 a.m.) LAPSIT STORYTIME – Join us for songs, rhymes and play! For ages birth-24 months with caregiver.
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays (10:15 a.m.) TODDLER STORYTIME – Join us for stories, rhymes, activities and songs. For ages 2 to 3-1/2 with caregiver.
  • Wednesdays (1 p.m.) GROWING READERS PRESCHOOL STORYTIME – Join us for a 30-minute early-literacy based storytime, then stay after for literacy activities for ages 3-1/2 to 5.

Tuesday, Sept. 10 (10 a.m.-noon) Career Transition Center:Telephone Tips for Jobseekers – Most people hate to make cold calls, but contacting people by phone is an essential part of a job search. This workshop will prepare you to use the telephone effectively, including the environment and "tools" needed to make a successful call, preparing a script for each type of call, keeping good records of calls for follow-up, improving voice quality, handling the telephone screening interview and overcoming objections.

Tuesday, Sept. 10 (7-8:30 p.m.) Connecting for Kids Coffee & Chat – Parent support group for families who have a question or concern about their child's development. Please refer to connectingforkids.org for topics.

Wednesday, Sept. 11 (5-5:45 p.m.) The Book-a-holics: Tween Book Club – Join us for lively discussions about books, audio, apps and more. Each month we'll choose a genre to focus on! Grades 4-7. Please register.

Thursday, Sept. 12 (7 p.m.) Non-Fiction Book Discussion – The September selection is "Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World that Can’t Stop Talking" by Susan Cain.

Thursday, Sept. 12 (7-8 p.m.) Superhero Storytime – Kapow! Dress up as your favorite superhero and listen to tales of bravery. Be prepared to use your super strength to play games and even make a super-duper craft to take home! Ages 3-6. Registration begins Sept. 5.

Thursday, Sept. 12 (7-8:30 p.m.) Lincoln/Davis Debate – Join us for a one-act play imagining a meeting of Lincoln and Davis during the Hampton Roads Conference in February 1865. Brought to you through a grant from the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. Please register.

Friday, Sept. 13 (10-10:45 a.m.) Come Play With Me! – Open playtime with age-appropriate toys, songs and rhymes. For children ages 2-5 with a caring adult. Siblings welcome! Registration begins Sept. 6.

Saturday, Sept. 14 (10:30-11:30 a.m.) Pokemon League – Bring your cards and accessories for a fun morning of play! For kids ages 6-12 only. Please, no younger siblings. Registration begins one week before each program.

Three market trends – primary, secondary and minor – will be discussed and analyzed. Coverage will include ways to avoid bear trends. Please register.

Tuesday, Sept. 17 (10 a.m.-noon) Career Transition Center: Positive First Impressions – They say, “You never get a second chance to make a first impression.” It takes five to seven seconds for someone to form a first impression of you based on the way you present yourself. Whether you’re networking or interviewing, you will create a lasting impression and you need for it to be a positive one. Get tips on the little (and big) things that determine how you will be perceived and learn how that perception will impact your success in a job search.

Saturday, Sept. 28 (10 a.m.) Understanding the Dyslexic Soul – Join Susan Rydzinski, RN, BSN, and her son, Joseph, for an exploration of dyslexia. They’ll discuss what it is, its symptoms and resources for helping loved ones achieve success despite the challenges it presents.

Saturday, Sept. 28 (10:30-11 a.m.) Mother Goose on the Loose! – Join Mother Goose for this interactive storytime featuring simple books, rhymes, songs and movement. For ages birth-3 years old with adult caregiver. No registration.

Saturday, Sept. 28 (2-3:30 p.m.) Connecting for Kids Parent Discussion & Facilitated Playgroup – Participate in a discussion group led by a pediatric expert while your children play in a separate room with a CCBDD facilitator. Saturday, Sept. 28 (3-5 p.m.) Mad4Manga – Do you love Manga, Anime or Japanese culture? If you do, this club is for you! Each month we watch a different Anime series and talk about our favorite Manga. Sometimes we even throw in some crafts, Manga drawing or Japanese treats just for fun! Grades 6-12 only.
