Bay Village BOE members discuss school topics in new video interview series

The Bay Village City School District is producing an online series of video interviews in which Board of Education members discuss school district challenges and the rationale behind important decisions. The series can be found at www.bayvillageschools.com/interviews.
The interviews, each about 15 minutes long, address a variety of important topics in education. Superintendent Clint Keener hosts the interview programs, which often include a Bay High student guest for the important student perspective.
Two videos have been completed and are posted online. School board member Dr. Bob Piccirilli and Bay High senior Alyse Arko discuss technology in the schools. In a second video, board member Dr. Gayatry Jacob-Mosier and her daughter, Bay High junior Jessica Mosier, discuss student activities and why they are important to Bay Village students, families and to the entire community.
Upcoming videos will feature board members Michael Caputo, Amy Huntley and Bill Selong. Topics will include school finances, the district's bond issue facilities work, community partnerships and academics.
Board of Education members set educational goals and establish policy for a school system based upon state laws and community values. In effect, they create the vision for the future of a school district.
Decisions are made only after careful study and many hours of discussion and evaluation of recommendations made by the district's superintendent, treasurer, other staff members and community members. The video series will demonstrate the complexity and the wide array of factors board members must consider when making their decisions.
