Upcoming programs at the Bay Village Branch Library

The leaves are beginning to change and now is the time to get out and enjoy the colors. Apple and pumpkin farm exploring, cooler temperatures and walks outside are just a few of the things that make this a special time of year. Leaf raking and home fix-up chores aren’t so fun – but that’s where the library can help you!

Check out a book on CD and listen while you work. It’ll make the job go fast, and you won’t want to stop. OK – maybe not that, but listening to a book or music make those jobs more fun! Stop into the library to see what’s new and to find just the right book for you. Whether you’re a new reader, a student who needs to finish a report or an adult who wants to browse the collection, we have the book for you! Sign up to attend these special programs, too. The library is THE place to be entertained and informed!

Wednesday, Oct. 23 (7 p.m.) EGYPTIAN MUMMIES: TECHNIQUE AND RITUAL – Discover how ancient Egyptians preserved their dead for the afterlife. For adults only as material may be too graphic for sensitive viewers. Presented by Susannah Hamm, who brought us a program on the Mayan Calendar last year.

Friday, Oct. 18 (11 a.m.) EXPERIENCE THE POWER OF BALLOONS! – For all ages. Swifty the Clown has over 3,000 astounding and amazing balloon creations in his repertoire. Learn to turn ordinary balloons into whimsical flowers, butterflies, ladybugs and more!

Tuesday, Oct. 22 (4 p.m.) NATIONAL CHEMISTRY WEEK – ENERGY NOW AND FOREVER – For grades 3-6. Joins us for fun, hands-on activities that let you get close to the action! Be prepared to get in and get messy with a volunteer from the American Chemical Society.
