Competitive cheerleader in Bay Village!

The Force team performs in Pittsburgh on Nov. 17. Sophie is in the middle as a "flyer."

My team just won first place at our first competition of the season in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! We won a medal and a team banner.

I am a competitive cheerleader for Ohio Extreme in Avon. Our team is called Force. This is my third year cheering. On our team we have 24 girls that are seven to 12 years old. My coaches' names are Coach Courtney and Coach Derek. We have a senior coach named Coach Emily.

The competition was on Sunday, Nov. 17. It was really fun! I stayed overnight in a hotel on Saturday with my teammate, Julia. We wear uniforms that say Ohio Extreme. We have very shiny blue bows that are big too.

Our routine is two-and-a-half minutes long. Our theme is Broadway. I really like our music. It has part of “It’s a Hard Knock Life” from Annie and “When I’m Gone” by Anna Kendrick.

In our routine, I do a back walkover and two back handsprings. I jump and do stunts. It ends with a pyramid and our dance. I thought our team did well. After performing, I liked watching the other teams. At the competition, I bought a bow and a shirt that said “cheerleader” for my stuffed animal dog.

When it was award time, all the Level 2 teams sat on the stage. When they were calling team names for places, I thought we were going to get second or third place because a few girls on my team made some mistakes during the performance, but we got first!

All the girls were clapping and yelling. Our coaches were so happy for us. Cheering is fun, so you should do it too!
