WHS girls soccer team's GPA ranks 3rd in state

The 2013 Westlake High School girls soccer team has a combined 4.13 GPA – the third highest in Ohio – and was named a 1st Team Scholastic All-American Team by the Adidas National Soccer Coaches Association.

The award is based on grades and on-the-field accomplishments. This is 10th time in 12 years the team has earned an All-American Scholar Team award.

The Lady Demons finished the season with an overall 9-4-5 record (5-0-2 in the Southwestern Conference). They were the SWC champions and district runner-up. The team has finished first or second in the SWC 11 of the past 12 years and has been in district finals 10 of the past 12 years.

Earning first-team all-SWC was senior Alexis Carpenter and junior Erin Langermeier. Earning second-team all-SWC was senior Lauren Hurst, senior Megan Konrad and senior Jenna Tabba. Earning honorable mention all-SWC was senior Madison Dunlap and senior MacKenzie Maynard. Earning second-team all-Ohio was senior Alexis Carpenter.

Seniors Taylor Salamone and Anna Boor also were named National Merit Commended Scholars. The team is coached by Scott Jones.
