Hope College Wind Ensemble tour stops in Westlake

Enjoy a lovely evening of music with the Hope College Wind Ensemble. The ensemble will be performing at Westlake United Methodist Church in the sanctuary on Friday, March 14, at 7:30 p.m. The address is 27650 Center Ridge Road. All are welcome to this free event conducted by Hope college's own Dr. Gabe Southard. Among others, the ensemble's repertoire includes:

  • "Paris Sketches" by Martin Ellerby
  • "Pictures at an Exhibition" by Modest Mussorgsky
  • "Strange Humors" by John Mackey
  • "Dance of the New World" by Dana Wilson

The Hope College Wind Ensemble is an auditioned group open to all students regardless of their major and typically performs 6-10 times per year. The group performs a repertoire from a variety of eras and tours every other year. They recently completed recording for a CD project that will include Wagner's "Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral," Ticheli's "Angels in the Architecture," as well as other works. Hope College is recognized as having one of the finest small-college music programs in the nation.
