Ballroom dance competition heats up Westlake

Dancers compete in the March 8 Team Match Cleveland, hosted by Starz Ballroom.

On Saturday, March 8, Starz Ballroom in Westlake hosted their first ever Team Match Cleveland, which included more than 150 students with their instructors competing against their own scores amongst four other dance studios and over 600 entries. Kimberley Mitchell, who was named International Latin Champion of the British Open in 2001, was the special guest adjudicator

Alpha Dance studio won Top Studio and Top Team Match Studio. Jan Elder, dancing with her instructor, Tony Nunez, won Top Student.

Cleveland Ballroom Company's Nina Mihaylova and instructor Tony Scheppler took home the Top Junior Award and Jane Dipplong with Scheppler won Top Championship in their category.

Starz Ballroom dancers Kim Sethna with instructor and Starz owner Anderson Sylvestre, Erika Obrock with Sylvestre, Karen Ansevin with her instructor Avelino Davilla, and Lynn Sharnek with Sylvestre all won a Top Championship award in their respective categories.
