Trash Talkers bang into Porter Library May 20

Many parents, dreaming of peace and quiet, hope the years when their young children bang on any surface to create noise are over. But some young men from St. Edward’s High School in Lakewood have set a new standard for banging on surfaces, and they bring their unique style of music to Westlake Porter Public Library, 27333 Center Ridge Road, on Tuesday, May 20.

The Trash Talkers percussion group, made up entirely of St. Ed’s students, uses strictly recycled “instruments” such as metal trash cans and plastic buckets. This spirited group emerged from the influences of Stomp and Blue Man Group. Since 2003, they have captivated audiences at numerous events around the Cleveland area and have been featured live on Cleveland TV channels.

St. Ed’s Trash Talkers May 20 performance is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and the program is provided free by the Westlake-Westshore Arts Council. However, early arrival is advised. Due to the group’s popularity, seats may fill quickly.
