Saturday, June 14 (11 a.m.-noon) Make Your Own Sidewalk Chalk – Make your own colorful sidewalk chalk to take home! Weather permitting, we'll decorate the front sidewalks with chalk in time for the Summer Reading Program. Ages 6-10. Registration begins June 7.

Tuesday, June 24 (10-10:45 a.m.) Mom and Baby Yoga – Start your baby with yoga, a practice that can last a lifetime! For babies ages 2-6 months old and their caregivers. Parent or caregiver must accompany child in class. Please bring a yoga mat or towel. Registration begins June 17.

Tuesday, June 24 (2-3 p.m.) Take Flight – Use paper to create your best planes, spinners and other things that fly, then test them on our runway. Ages 6-11. Registration begins June 17.

Tuesday, June 24 (2:30-3 p.m.) and Thursday, June 26 (10:30-11 a.m.) Book Buddies – Teen volunteers will help students ENTERING grades 1-3 retain their reading skills during summer vacation. This program is designed for those usually reading below grade level and in need of extra help practicing reading. Please note: the Book Buddies program is not a tutoring service. Teen Book Buddy volunteers are neither expected nor trained to correct learning problems or to teach children to read. Sign up weekly for the session that works best for you. Continues weekly through July 24.

Tuesday, June 24 (3-4 p.m.) and Thursday, June 26 (11 a.m.-noon) Summer Brain Games – Keep up your skills this summer vacation! Kids ENTERING grades 1-3 can drop in each week for grade-appropriate educational games and activities in four subject areas. Teen volunteers and staff from Westlake City Schools will be on hand to assist. Parents of children under age 9 are required to stay in the library while their children are participating in Brain Games. Drop-in program, no registration necessary! Continues weekly through July 24.

Tuesday, June 24 (7-8 p.m.) Blast Off Into Outer Space! – Travel through “space” as we enjoy stories about rocket ships and the planets. Make an out-of-this-world craft! Ages 3-6. Registration begins June 17.

Friday, June 27 (1:30-3 p.m.) Paper Bag Journals – The crafty Ms. Jenn Cline is back to show us how to make our very own journals out of paper bags. We'll make the journals as well as decorate them, and begin filling them with notes and poems. Grades 5-7. Registration begins June 20.

Saturday, June 28 (10:30 a.m.-noon) Genealogy Research from Home – Discover free genealogy websites available to you from home including HeritageQuest and Fold3. Bring along names and dates for hands on research. Please register.

Saturday, June 28 (2-4 p.m.) Carryout Crafts – Stop by the Youth Services Department to see what each day’s featured craft is! Tables will be set up with all of the supplies needed.

Sunday, June 29 (2-3 p.m.) Make a Yarn Bowl – Make a new decoration for your room. We will make a free-form design with yarn that will dry and become a bowl. It will be messy, so bring an art shirt with you. Grades 2-4. Registration begins June 22.

Monday, June 30 (2-3:30 p.m.) Astronaut Training – You've been selected for Astronaut Training! Kids ages 3-6 can report to the Porter Room anytime between 2-3:30 p.m. to begin their training. No registration required!
