Students earn national recognition for Spanish exam scores
Sixty-eight Westlake High School Spanish students earned national recognition for excellent performance on the 2014 National High School Spanish I-5 Examinations.
Spanish students earned a total of 13 gold, 10 silver and 21 bronze medals, along with 24 honorable mentions.
Gold medalists, who scored in the top 1 percent to 5 percent in the nation, include Rachel Cuellar, Catherine Frerman, Carter Hoon, Bradley Katcher, Maya Kilani, Justin Krantz, Alexander Lathem, Hong Liang, Sneha Ramachandran, Emily Schordock, Luci Del Rincon Martinez, Vishal Shah and Melissa Karpuszka.
Silver medalists, scoring in the top 6 percent to 14 percent in the nation are Jack Bogart, Farrah Kharche, Alexis Mance, Alan Garber, Maggie Burns, Riya Desai, Sean Dunphy, Ishaan Dutta, Maura Ryan and Ryan Zubricky.
Bronze medalists, who scored in the top 16 percent to 23 percent, are Sydney Chatterton, Marlen Torres, Jeremy Schwochow, Diana Kalash, Mark Sargent, Bridgit McCaffrey, Elizabeth Massien, Nicole Korczak, Megan Fleming, David Eppele, Jotham Courtney, Leah Choban, Grace Busic, Elise Brizes, Elizabeth Raiff, Elise Kennedy, Jackson Routhier, Taeho Kim, Simran Khosla, Nicole Davies and Mingda Chen.
