Megan Teets, a sixth-grade Parkside Intermediate School student, is one of 16 recipients of the R.A. Horn Outstanding Achievement Award from the Ohio Department of Education.

The award is presented to one exemplary special education student from each of Ohio’s 16 State Support Team regions. Megan will be recognized in Columbus on June 18 by the Ohio Coalition for the Education of Children with Disabilities.

Megan became eligible for the state award after being honored with a 2014 Student Achievement Award from the Educational Service Center of Cuyahoga County. She was honored by the State Support Team for Region 3 at the annual spring awards program on May 16. The focus of the celebration was to acknowledge the contributions of individuals on behalf of students with disabilities, and the outstanding achievements of individual students with disabilities.

Megan was nominated for the awards by Parkside Counselor Deb Voss and Intervention Specialist Julie Milkie.

“I have seen Megan in physical education for 18 weeks and I am astounded by her strength, courage, tenacity and positive attitude,” Voss said. “She is incredible.”
