Graduations and Goodbyes

WCA's Class of 2014

Hi. My name is Halle Parks. I am 10 years old, in fourth grade and am home schooled. My mom has been my teacher at home in Bay Village since I was in kindergarten. Recently, my parents and I have been thinking about having me go to a “regular” school for fifth grade. Hopefully, I will attend Westside Christian Academy (WCA) in Westlake.

To  learn more about the school, my mom and I went to WCA’s eighth-grade graduation on June 3. The ceremony was much more exciting than I thought it would be! It began with a prayer, and continued with music and worship. Then, the 11 graduates recited Psalm 19 together (which is quite a long Psalm).

Afterwards, Mr. Jim Whiteman, the school’s headmaster, congratulated the students. The students then shared their memorable times at the school, as well as their different talents including a piano solo, creative dance, original poems they had written and favorite memorized passages from the Bible.

Most of the students have attended WCA since they were in kindergarten, but some started later in elementary school. WCA is only kindergarten through the eighth-grade, so students attend the public and private high schools God has led them to.

In the end, well deserved congratulations were given to Ethan Sanders, Elyssa Seljan, Elena Smith, Emma Thomas, Emma Uveges, Jonathan Abbuhl, McKenna Gossman, Mitchell Jablonski, Alexander Konstan, Anna Mahon, and Maria Nettgen for all their hard work. They have learned much from their outstanding teachers, and will strive to learn even more in the future. I’m now even more excited than ever to be a student next year at WCA and can’t wait until my own eighth-grade graduation!
