Upcoming programs at Bay Village Branch Library

With the hottest days of summer upon us, you may be looking for an escape from outside activities. Why not join us at the Bay Village branch for one of our programs? From weekly storytimes to book discussions for adults, you’re sure to find something that suits your needs. Also, don’t forget to mark your calendar for the Friends of the Bay Village branch book sale starting on Saturday, July 26, at 9 a.m.

You still have plenty of time to participate in our Summer Reading Game for adults and youth of all ages. Register online at www.cuyahogalibrary.org, select an avatar, decide on your goal minutes, and you are ready to start. Read and add your minutes online as you progress. Wednesday, July 16 (7 p.m.) Writer's Center Stage Preview – Each year the William N. Skirball Writers Center Stage Program brings the literary world’s best authors, poets, journalists and storytellers to Cleveland. Join us for a fun, interactive sneak peak of the 2014-15 season and enter for a chance to win tickets.

Tuesday, July 22 (7 p.m.) Sort Out Recycling – The Solid Waste Management District will address the complexities of the recycling process and dispel recycling myths. Learn where recyclables go and how recycling benefits the environment.



  • Wednesdays, July 2 and 9 (9:30 a.m.) Baby & Me – For caregivers and their children ages birth to 18 months. Join us for rhymes, songs, fingerplays and books.
  • Thursdays, July 10 and 17 (11 a.m.); Tuesdays, July 15 and 22 (7 p.m.) Preschool – Caregivers and their children ages 3-5 not yet in kindergarten are invited to join us for rhymes, songs, fingerplays and stories.
  • Mondays and Tuesdays, July 14, 15, 21 and 22 (9:30 a.m.) Toddler – Caregivers and their children ages 19-35 months are invited to join us for rhymes, songs, fingerplays and stories.
  • Wednesdays, July 9 and 16 (7 p.m.); Fridays, July 11 and 18 (9:30 a.m.) Family Storytime – All ages of children with an adult caregiver are invited to join us for stories, songs, and fingerplays.
  • Saturday, July 12 (10:30 a.m.) Sensory Storytime – Join us for this storytime designed specifically for children with special needs and their families, incorporate a schedule board, double visuals and sensory opportunities as well as a half-hour of socialization time following the program.

Monday, July 21 (2 p.m.) Fizz Boom Read! – Allow Dr. Fizz to take your audience on an interesting exploration of science and story! Before there was science, people used stories to explain everything from why giraffes have long necks to why humans live longer than many other animals. Audiences will explore the scientific theories behind fascinating natural phenomena as well as how people around the world have explained the same phenomena for centuries. Fun for all ages! Young children must be accompanied by an adult.
