Red Cross blood drive slated for Aug. 12 at Bay Library

The American Red Cross will conduct a blood drive from 1-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, in the community room at the Bay Village Branch Library, 502 Cahoon Road.

Bay High School senior Katherine Kerka is coordinating the event and helping the Red Cross identify blood donors for the drive. Kerka said donation time slots are available between 1-6 p.m. Kerka first gained exposure to the Red Cross blood drives through her involvement with Bay High School Student Council.

"Because blood supplies fall short during the summer months, donations at this time of year are critical," says Kerka. "It is easy to give blood and your donation can really make a difference in someone's life."

To schedule an appointment to donate, call 1-800-733-2767 or sign up online at redcrossblood.org. Donors will receive a coupon for $10 off Cedar Point admission (while supplies last.)

Donors must be age 17 or older or age 16 with parental consent. Check the American Red Cross website for donor height and weight requirements.
