Area Democratic clubs combine forces for candidates night

The combined western Cuyahoga County Democratic clubs will join forces for a Tuesday, Sept. 30, Candidates Night and early voting kickoff at 7 p.m., at the Don Umerley Civic Center in Rocky River. The sponsoring clubs include Bay Village, Fairview Park, Lakewood, North Olmsted, Rocky River, Westlake and Cleveland Stonewall. The Civic Center is located at 21016 Hilliard Boulevard. 

You treasure the right to vote, but are unfamiliar with the candidates? You care about your community and have questions? You are a responsible citizen and love Ohio and our country! Here's your chance to meet the candidates in person and ask questions. Let them know about your concerns and what you think. Speak up, speak out, be an informed voter!

We are expecting the following candidates (listed with the office they are seeking) to attend in person: John P. O’Donnell, Ohio Supreme Court; Nina Turner, Ohio Secretary of State; Todd LeVeck, Ohio House District 16; Mike Skindell, Ohio Senate District 23; Armond Budish, Cuyahoga County Executive; Mark Szabo, Cuyahoga County Council District 1; Shannon Gallagher, Judge, Court of Common Pleas; Francine Goldberg, Judge, Domestic Relations Court; Sherry Midday, Judge, Court of Common Pleas. The following candidates are expected to send representatives: Connie Pillich, Ohio State Treasurer; Pete Crossland, U.S. Congressional District 16; Marcy Kaptur, U.S. Congressional District 9.

Jane Reilly

Jane is presently a freelance writer. Now retired, Jane was a national Senior Public Affairs Field Manager and national Network Coordinator for non-profit advocacy organizations. Jane is the mother of four and grandmother of seven and, while originally from Wisconsin, has lived in Lakewood and Fairview Park for over 40 years.
