K-Kids donate to hunger center

Dover Intermediate School K-Kids assemble toiletry bags to donate to St. Patrick's Hunger Center.

Dover Intermediate School K-Kids assembled more than 200 bags filled with a variety of toiletries to donate to St. Patrick’s Hunger Center in Cleveland. About 2,000 sample-sized and hotel toiletries were collected by DIS K-Kids, Westlake Kiwanis and St. Ladislas parish in Westlake. Thirty-eight students met after school to assemble the bags with the help of the Westlake High School Key Club.

DIS K-Kids advisor Joanne Clancy and WHS Key Club advisor Bob Clancy helped the students organize individualized packets of toiletries. K-Kids representatives and parents handed out the bags, served meals and cleaned up on Sept. 17 at the hunger center.

K-Kids is a service organization for elementary students sponsored by Kiwanis International. The service club is dedicated to helping students develop leadership skills and learn the value of community service. Kiwanis also has Key Club at WHS and Builders Club at Lee Burneson Middle School.
