Easy button for stress
STRESS! It can happen to all of us, and it can happen through many different triggers. For example, too much to do and not enough time, kids that won't listen, money that won't stretch far enough, not enough sleep before tomorrow's big meeting, hectic holidays looming ahead, pets not using the litter box.
Maybe it's time to seriously de-stress. Look your stress straight in the eye and say, "Boy have I got something for you!" There's no magic button here, but endorphins come pretty close. In the language of biochemistry, endorphins are peptides produced by the pituitary gland, and the nervous system. They awaken your body's opiate receptors, creating an analgesic effect. When you exercise your body releases them.
Of 20 different endorphins, beta-endorphins are said to be more powerful than morphine. Meditation, massage, and Yoga are believed to stimulate endorphin release, and induce a sense of well-being. So here's an Easy Button, it's called Yoga Nidra, an ancient meditative practice that allows effortless rejuvenation for mind and body. Truly easy, it can be done sitting in a chair or lying on your back. No twisted pretzel-like poses needed.
On Saturday, Oct. 25, facilitator Susan "Sheshen" Armstrong will guide you through body, breath and awareness techniques to create that deep relaxation you long for, but can't quite achieve on your own. You will safely journey from beta to alpha to theta states reaching a healing state of wellness, and breaking from a zany world.
