Unity Spiritual Center welcomes new minister

Unity Spiritual Center's new minister, Rev. Joanne Rowden

After a nearly yearlong search, Unity Spiritual Center welcomes a new senior minister, Reverend Joanne Rowden, on Sunday, Nov. 2. Rev. Rowden is the seventh minister of Westlake's Unity church since it was incorporated in 1964, the previous minister having retired after 17 years in December. Just west of the intersection of Clague and Detroit, Unity Spiritual Center has a six-acre campus with a large outdoor walking labyrinth, a congregation of more than 400, and offers a variety of spiritual and cultural classes and events, as well as Sunday services at 9 and 11 a.m.

Rev. Rowden, an ordained Unity minister, was formerly the minister of Unity in Edinboro, Penn. She also serves as the President of Unity Worldwide Ministries, Eastern Region, and is active in Unity's worldwide movement which teaches the universal principles of Truth, as taught and demonstrated by Jesus Christ, and welcomes people of all religions, spiritual paths, race and sexual orientation.

Rev. Rowden also worked for many years as an independent accountant for a large financial advisory firm, but will now serve Unity Spiritual Center full time as minister.

Her life's work is to help people “discover the Truth that sets us free to be the light of God expressing in our world.” She will continue Unity Spiritual Center's tradition of worship services and classes with lessons teaching that each person is a unique expression of God, and lovingly empowers all to embrace the Divine within through prayer, meditation, education, healing, service and inspiration.

Additional information about the services, many classes, workshops and other activities at Unity may be found at unityspiritualcenter.com. Join us Sunday, Nov. 2, at 9 a.m. or 11 a.m. to hear Rev. Rowden. Youth and children's ministry during the 11:00 service. For more information, call 440-835-0400.
