BAYarts exhibition highlights one mother's struggle

"For Margaret" by Erin Stack is part of an exhibition on personal journeys at BAYarts.

Erin Stack is one of the four artists featured in the Sullivan Family Gallery at BAYarts during the month of February. The exhibition, "Still Small Voice," focuses on very personal journeys of the respective women involved. For Stack, this was a story about being strong during her first pregnancy.
"When I was 19, I became pregnant," Stack wrote in her artist statement for the show. "Young, unmarried and in my first year of college I found myself in a place that I was not yet ready to visit: motherhood. After listening to the opinions of others, I chose to listen to my own inner voice that convinced me that I could wholeheartedly, without question, change the course of my life and still do everything I dreamed of doing. The only difference was that I would now have someone to join me on my personal journey."
The Sullivan Family Gallery is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10-3 p.m. This exhibition will be on display through the end of February.
