Student artists honored at Bay library

Gigi Merks accepts the Best of Show award from judge Pat Sandy at the Show Your Colors art show at the Bay Village Branch Library.

Beauty came to life with the Show Your Colors art exhibit at the Bay Village Branch Library. On Saturday, March 7, 125 art lovers came to a reception to recognize outstanding middle school artists from the Bay Village area. Gigi Merk took Best of Show with her self-portrait done in marker completely with words. She said it took her a whole semester to complete. Twenty students earned place ribbons and prizes for their creative pieces.

Local artists Melissa Moon, Sharon Aunchman and Pat Sandy gave of their time to judge over 100 pieces of art. Aunchman praised the artists, offering "congratulations to all the winning students, their art teachers and their parents for a show with very sophisticated work for the age group." Pat Sandy was on hand to give insight  on selection of top pieces as he helped hand out prizes.

All students did a fantastic job and the Bay Village Library staff has heard many compliments from the patrons who have seen the artwork displayed throughout the library. Stop in and see for yourself!  Many thanks to the Friends of the Bay Village Library for financially supporting the Show Your Colors art show.
