Tri-C student from Westlake named to All-Ohio Academic Team

Aswin Bikkani

Aswin Bikkani of Westlake was one of seven students from Cuyahoga Community College named to the All-Ohio Community College Academic Team, which comprises top students at the state’s two-year schools.

The All-Ohio Academic Team recognizes student excellence in academics, leadership and community service. Fifty-three students from across the state were selected for this year’s team on the basis of their outstanding records. Tri-C had more students named All-Ohio than any other school.

“The All-Ohio results are indicative of Tri-C’s focus on academic excellence and the caliber of students that walk through our doors,” said Craig Foltin, the College’s interim executive vice president of academic and learning success.

Bikkani, who received third-team honors, participated in the Post-Secondary Enrollment Options program at Tri-C’s Westshore Campus and received both his Associate of Arts and Associate of Science in December — six months prior to his graduation from Westlake High School.

He serves as president of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society chapter at Westshore Campus, is the captain of the WHS speech and debate team and has twice been a U.S. Chemistry Olympiad National Semifinalist. He is also an Eagle Scout, a tutor and hospital volunteer.

In the fall, Bikkani plans to attend a four-year college to pursue a career as a physician.
