Furthering women's education with gifts that moms love
Please plan to attend Chapter AE (P.E.O. International) "Furthering Women's Education" fundraiser. The event will be Thursday, May 7, from 5-7 p.m. It will be held at the Dover Congregational Church, 2239 Dover Center Road, Westlake. The event includes a silent auction of Longaberger baskets filled with various items (bidding will close at 6:15 p.m.), cash and carry gift items, plants, wreaths and baked goods. There will be light refreshments. There is no charge for the event. Cash and checks only will be accepted.
P.E.O. Sisterhood (Philanthropic Educational Organization), one of the pioneer societies for women, was founded in 1869 by seven students at Iowa Wesleyan College. Originally a small campus friendship society, P.E. O. soon blossomed to include women off campus.
Today, P.E.O. has grown from that tiny membership of seven to almost a quarter of a million members in appoximately 6,000 local chapters in the United States and Canada. The P.E.O. Sisterhood is passionate about its mission: promoting educational opportunities for women. Our sisterhood proudly makes a difference in women's lives with six philanthropies that include ownership of Cottey College (a women's college with both two-year and four-year programs) and five other philanthropies that provide higher educational assistance.
Chapter AE Cleveland was organized in 1937, and meets at the Avon Lake Library. Please call Denece Praeger at 440-667-0120 for further informatiion.
