Life jacket event stresses safe boating practices

Bay Schools Safe Boating students and staff put on their life jackets May 16 at the Bay Boat Club to be part of "Ready, Set, Wear It!" Day. The goal of the event, part of a week of activities sponsored by the National Safe Boating Council, is to get the most people wearing their life jacket to break last year's record and to raise awareness that wearing life jackets saves lives.

Later that day, the students completed an Ohio Boating Education Class as part of the Bay Schools Boating Education program. The program follows the nationally recognized Spirit of America boating safety curriculum.
