Summer keeps rolling at Westlake Rec

Summer may be well underway, but the Westlake Recreation Department still has plenty to offer. Check out these upcoming camps and programs:

Pre-K Sports Camp (ages 3-5)

This 4-week camp meets daily Mondays-Thursdays during the morning or twice at night on Mondays and Wednesdays. Offerings include T-Ball, Jr. Hoopers basketball and Little Kickers soccer along with a session of good old fun and games. Multiple times available. Next session starts on July 13.

Soccer Camp with Coach Besu (ages 5-14)

This camp meets Monday-Thursday, July 13-16, from 9-11:30 a.m. Basic fundamentals of soccer are taught and practiced. As you gain more experience the drills become more challenging.

Shawn Hood’s Basketball Skills & Drills Camp (Grades 3-8)

This camp runs Monday-Thursday, July 27-30, with grades 3-5 meeting 9 a.m.-noon and grades 6-8 meeting 12:30-3:30 p.m. The mechanics of the game are taught and worked on during this camp.

Junior Demons Skill Camp (grades K-2)

Camp meets Monday-Thursday, July 27-30, from 3:45-4:45 p.m. Coach Hood will introduce the skills of the game to these future Demons basketball players.

Summer Volleyball Camp (grades 3-6)

This camp runs Monday-Thursday, July 27-30, with grades 3-4 meeting 5:30-7 p.m. and grades 5-6 meeting 7-8:30 p.m. Coach Regan Pore brings back her wonderful instructional camp. All skills of the game will be taught and practiced during this time.

Summer Day Camp (ages 6-12)

Day camp is in full session. Field trips over the next several weeks include: Children’s Museum, African Safari Wildlife, Akron Fossils & Science Center and a Crushers game. Check out our Gazette or website for all the details.

Sunday Summer Concert Series

Join us on the grounds of the Westlake Recreation Center for Sunday Night Concerts. Starting at 6:30 p.m. there are different bands each week. Bring your favorite chair or blanket and sit back relax and enjoy the show. New this year we also have a food truck and ice cream truck for your dining pleasure.

• July 12 – The Geeze Cats
• July 19 – Cats on Holiday
• July 26 – The Dan Zola Orchestra
• Aug. 2 – Ace Molar featuring Todd Meany
• Aug. 9 – Amanda Jones and the Family Band
• Aug. 16 – Twist
