Turn your yard into a wildlife garden

The Herb Guild Garden Club will meet on Wednesday, July 8, at Westlake Porter Public Library. The meeting portion will begin at 10 a.m. The speaker for this month’s meeting will be Katherine Geralds who will be speaking on how to create a backyard wildlife habitat.

Backyard Wildlife Habitat is a program of the National Wildlife Federation that encourages homeowners in the United States to manage their gardens and yards as a wildlife garden, with the goal of maintaining healthy and diverse animal habitats and ecosystems. Katherine will start her program at 12:30 p.m.

Tickets are going fast, but are still available at this meeting for the Herb Guild's annual scholarship luncheon on Wednesday, Aug. 5. The cost of the luncheon is $35 and will be held at the Avon Oaks Country Club. This year's theme is “Lavender, Lace and Lemonade.” In addition to the lunch, there will be a speaker, boutique, basket raffle, silent auction and bake sale.
