New! Clinics will cover golf swing fundamentals, short game techniques, putting and course management. Four classes, 10:00-11:30 a.m., beginning Wednesday, July 15. Instructor is Paula Slivinsky, PGA. Meet at Dwyer. Instruction will be held in the field across the street near the softball field. Cost $60. Limit 6.
LUNCH AND LEARNS
Friday, July 17, 12:30 p.m. Topic: Cardiac Concerns. This presentation will provide an overview as well as the signs and symptoms of heart disease and heart failure, common cardiac concerns in the community, an explanation of when to call a physician versus when to call 911. Also it will discuss how cardiac concerns can impact people in the home (falls, confusion, etc.). Call 440-835-6565 to register.
GRIEF RECOVERY PROGRAM
Friday, July 24, 12:30 p.m. Facilitator: John Monnin, bereavement coordinator. This presentation on grief and loss will discuss what grief is, explore tools to facilitate healing, learn new ways to support and respond to those who are grieving. John will discuss the Grief Recovery program which is a 10-12 week program we hope to hold at Dwyer on Friday afternoons beginning July 31 at 1 p.m., which will guide those who wish to move beyond their grief to a richer quality of life using a specific series of steps. FIRE UP YOUR FEET – WALKING CHALLENGE STARTS JULY 24!
Bay Village seniors will be challenging the Avon Senior Center. Kick-off: Friday, July 24, at High Noon, at St. John Medical Center, 29000 Center Ridge Road, Westlake, conference rooms A & B.
Begin and end this 6-week walking challenge with a health and wellness screening from SJMC nurses. Each participating senior center will be screened before the kick-off: Blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, BMI and waist circumference. Then socialize with and walk around the beautiful SJMC campus track. The following four Fridays we will walk on our own designated path in Bay Village. You will receive a pedometer to count your steps! The challenge ends on the sixth Friday (Aug. 28) with another evaluation at SJMC and a social with both senior centers. Prizes will be awarded.
