Chapter AE of P.E.O. International welcomes you to attend Gift Basket Galore & More, a fundraiser to be held on Thursday, May 5, from 5-7 p.m. at UCC Dover Congregational Church 2239 Dover Center Road, Westlake.

The event includes a silent auction of theme-filled Longaberger baskets, cash-and-carry gift items, plants, wreaths, baked goods and a raffle – something for everyone, gifts for many occasions (just in time for Mother’s Day). There will be light refreshments and it is free to attend. All those who come are eligible for our door prize drawing. Cash and checks will be accepted, and the bidding on the baskets will end at 6:15 p.m. We will also be raffling off a Crocker Park extravaganza weekend which includes a two night stay at the Hilton Double Tree with breakfast for two, restaurant gift certificates, Regal movie tickets, and more!

Chapter AE is a group of more than 40 dedicated women who support lifelong learning, helping women in general, and supporting women’s education. The member women are 18-90+ years young and regularly meet twice a month September through May. The meeting normally includes lunch and a program of interesting topics; sometimes we bring our own sandwiches. We are always on the lookout for new members and candidate students to sponsor for our financial philanthropies. Social gatherings and our fundraiser event are great times for our members to be together and have fun.

P.E.O. International is a philanthropic educational organization whose mission is to support women and women’s education. The organization was founded by seven women attending Iowa Wesleyan College in 1869. P.E.O. has evolved into one of the largest, nonsectarian community-based organization with nearly 6,000 chapters and almost a quarter of a million members in the United States and Canada. The organization has funded millions of dollars to women students and it is quietly helping women succeed.

P.E.O. International proudly makes a difference in women's lives with six philanthropies that include ownership of a women's college, Cottey College in Missouri, and five projects that provide higher educational assistance:

  • The Educational Loan Fund provides low interest rate loans for undergraduate and advanced degrees.
  • The International Peace Scholarship offers assistance to foreign students in the U.S.
  • The Continuing Education Fund has grants for women who need to complete an interrupted education.
  • Scholar Awards provide grants for high achieving scholars at the doctorate level.
  • STAR Scholarships are available for outstanding high school students.

Please join us and help us in this worthwhile cause. Send women with good grades to our attention. We welcome new members and we’d love to meet you on May 5.  For further information, contact Denece Praeger at 440-667-0120.
