Westlake Kiwanis Hear Earth Day Coalition Speaker
The Westlake Kiwanis hosted a program on Earth Day at a recent meeting. Their guest speaker was Scott Sanders, executive director of Earth Day Coalition.
Scott spoke on the upcoming EarthFest 2016, Sunday, April 17, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds. This is the Ohio's largest environmental education event and the longest-running Earth Day celebration in the nation.
Scott encourage all to come out and celebrate the Year of Clean Transportation with all-day entertainment, eco-activities, biodiesel-powered amusement park rides, music on four stages, urban farm animals, petting zoos, Jungle Bob with his animal friends, pony rides, local food trucks, micro-brewers and vintners.
There will be over 270 exhibitors in eight exhibit areas. Admission is $8 for 12 years of age and up, $4 for ages 2-11 and children under 2 are free.
Earth Day Coalition (EDC) is a nonprofit environmental education and advocacy organization serving Northeast Ohio and the nation. EDC was established in 1990 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Earth Day in Ohio. The mission of Earth Day Coalition is to provide education, inspire leadership and encourage action for a healthy environment.
They have four core programs: a student leadership program, a neighborhood survey, EarthFest and Clean Transportation.
