Unity celebrates Good Friday, Easter
The community is invited to walk in Jesus’ shoes at Unity Spiritual Center’s Good Friday Experience. This all-day service is for everyone seeking a deeper personal meaning of the Crucifixion.
The USC sanctuary is turned into nine stations: Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus picks up the cross, Jesus falls for the first time, Jesus meets Mary, Jesus is helped by Simone of Cyrene, Veronica wipes the face of Jesus, Jesus falls a final time, Jesus is nailed to the cross and Jesus is placed in the tomb. Participants can come in anytime during the day and journey through each of the nine stations. There they can sit and reflect while doing an activity that pertains to their life and that of Jesus.
The Good Friday Experience is Friday, April 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Easter Sunday is a special time at Unity Spiritual Center with the tradition of the flower cross, created during the service one flower at a time by each congregant. It illustrates that extraordinary beauty and joy can come from great suffering when we take the highest spiritual view.
Unity's Easter service is a celebration of uplifting music and wonderful visuals including the creation of the flower cross. No matter how many times people have seen the ceremony, it takes their breath away. Unity's expression of the Easter story stays with one long after the service ends. It is unique in the Christian tradition for its inspirational and emotionally transforming message.
Easter Sunday services are April 16 at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Childcare is available at both services. Unity is located at 23855 Detroit Road.
I will be handling press releases for services, events and programs for Unity Spiritual Center.
