Meet the Candidates, Bay Village Ward 3: Michael Smith

Michael Smith

I look forward to representing the interests of the residents of Ward 3 in the upcoming election. Having grown up in Bay Village, I have come to appreciate and understand the importance of community, and it is the primary focus of my candidacy to become more active in helping to strengthen such community. It has been a pleasure to be a resident and member of the Bay Village community for almost 30 years, and I hope that my time here helps to make me a better councilman.

My wife, Tess, and I live on Debbington Drive, with our 5 children. After graduating from Bay High School, I attended Miami University, studying history and comparative religion.

My family moved to Bay Village from Canada without the benefit of any local family or friends, but soon our neighbors became our family. Over the course of the last few years, I have had the unique opportunity to experience Bay Village as a homeowner, father, and business owner, and have come to appreciate the safety, character, and care that we all bring to our town.

I recently completed the process of naturalization with the intention of doing what I can to enhance these strengths of the Bay Village community. I know that each candidate running for office cares deeply for our town, and wants to protect our values.

I feel that my experiences as a small business owner and long-time resident will make the difference in bringing these desires to fruition.
