Spend a fun day at 'Cahoon in June' on June 16

Spend a fun day in Cahoon Memorial Park with family and friends at the 49th annual “Cahoon in June” fine crafts, collectibles and antiques event on Saturday, June 16, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Again this year, the Bay Village Historical Society is partnering with other community organizations on “Destination Bay.” Transportation will run between venues.

Admission to Cahoon in June is free. There will be a display of antique cars and boats in the park, as well as musical entertainment. The band Ground State will play from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed by OMF from noon to 1:30 p.m. Attendees over 10 years of age are invited to play Bubble Soccer in the park beginning at 11:30 a.m. There will be face painting for the children.

Rose Hill Museum, Reuben Osborn Learning Center and the Cahoon log cabin will be open. Interested Bay Village community groups are invited to set up tables free of charge. Contact Cynthia Eakin at 216-213-0312 to reserve a space. Show vendors are still being accepted.

Rose Hill Museum is 200 years old this year and the Bay Village Historical Society invites you to join in the celebration with a birthday cake-cutting ceremony at the gazebo in the park at noon. Local historian Kay Laughlin will give a brief history of the Cahoon family homestead.

Rose Hill Museum will feature a special display of dollhouse miniatures and furnishings, courtesy of the Cleveland Miniaturia Society. Founded in 1971, the society restores dollhouses for local institutions like the Western Reserve Historical Society, teaches classes at libraries, and has held a dollhouse show and sale for 47 years. The Cleveland Miniaturia Society will be offering items for sale and free appraisals at Cahoon in June.

Have lunch in the park and take some food home for dinner. There will be delicious dining options guaranteed to satisfy every taste. The Pierogi Lady will be serving pierogies, chicken paprikash, haluski and sausage. Carhop’s Mobile Diner will be offering burgers, all-beef jumbo hot dogs, vegan black bean burgers and tater tot casserole. Island Delights is retuning this year with fruit smoothies and funnel cakes. The Most Delicious Cookie Company will be serving cookies, hot from the oven. Pap’s Kettle Korn will have freshly popped kettle korn, cotton candy, lemonade and flavored ice teas.

Proceeds from this event support the Rose Hill Museum, the Reuben Osborn Learning Center and student scholarships. Visit bayhistorical.com for additional information.
