Bay Village civic groups announce their plans for spring events

The Bay Village Community Council met on March 27 to discuss their group's exciting upcoming events. Here are some highlights. 

The Bay Village Green Team is hosting a Community Shredding Day on Saturday, April 27, 9 a.m. to noon in the police station parking lot. There is no limit on the amount of paper you can bring; cardboard is also accepted. You do not have to be a Bay resident to bring material for shredding. Habitat for Humanity will also be on site that day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. collecting gently used household items.   

The Bay Village Historical Society is holding its 50th annual "Cahoon in June" fine crafts, collectibles and antiques show, in Cahoon Memorial Park on Saturday, June 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Admission to "Cahoon in June" is free. There will be a display of antique cars and boats in the park, as well as musical entertainment and food vendors. Rose Hill Museum, Reuben Osborn Learning Center and the Cahoon log cabin will be open. Interested Bay Village community groups are invited to set up tables free of charge. Vendor spaces are also available.  Proceeds from this event support the Rose Hill Museum, the Reuben Osborn Learning Center and student scholarships. Bay Village Kiwanis Club's Academic Achievement Awards will be held Monday, May 20, at 7 p.m. at the high school. See their website for more details: bayvillage-oh.kiwanisone.org. 

Bay Village Library's Friends of the Library Book Sale will be held April 27 to April 30. Go to www.cuyahogalibrary.org/Branches/Bay-Village.aspx for more details and a full listing of spring programs and events. 

Bay Village Women's Club and Foundation will hold their “Honors for Scholars” luncheon on Thursday, May 2, at the Cleveland Yachting Club where six Bay High seniors will be presented with scholarships. Reservations to this luncheon may be made by contacting Darin Snyder at 440-871-4209 by April 27. Guests are $27.

VFW Post 9693 will hold their Buddy Poppy Fundraiser on May 17 and 18. VFW members will be selling poppies at these locations: Walgreens Westlake, Drug Mart Westlake, Market District Westlake, and Giant Eagle Avon Lake. 

Village Project has broth and menu items for sale in their Project Shoppe at 27378 W. Oviatt. They also offer hands-on cooking classes with tasting. Pre-registration is required: ourvillageproject.com/event or 440-348-9401. Their 6th annual Project Pedal charitable bike ride is Saturday, June 15. Registration opens May 1. The next meeting of the Bay Village Community Council will be Thursday, May 23, at 7 p.m. at the Bay Village Library. Representatives of Bay Village's nonprofit and civic groups are invited to attend to share ideas and event schedules and promote their ideas.
