Food, Fun & Dancing: Welcome Week at the West Shore YMCA

It's the YMCA's National Welcome Week, and here's how you can celebrate community #WestlakeStrong.

The Westshore YMCA (1575 Columbia Road) is hosting an international potluck, jazz band and salsa/cha-cha events during our festive week. All events are open to the public. For more information, contact Theresa Sullivan at tsullivan@clevelandymca.org or phone 440-871-6885.

1. Jazz It Up: Join Our International Potluck and Celebrate Community!

As the fall season approaches, let's take time to break bread as a community, enjoy live jazz and celebrate what we all bring to the table –together. On Thursday, Sept. 19, the Westshore YMCA will be hosting its International Potluck from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The event is part of "Welcome Week" where we celebrate our many cultures here in the United States. Eric Everett Jazz, a popular Cleveland band, will serve up jazz, Latin and R&B classics, while we enjoy a smorgasbord of delicious dishes!

We ask that each member bring a dish that represents their cultural heritage to the event; the Westshore YMCA will be providing pulled pork sliders.

Tickets are $5 per family and registration is required at the Member Services Desk. Please indicate the type of dish you will be bringing. Let's gather for fellowship, song and wonderful food from across the globe!

2. Cha Cha Cha: Unleash Your Inner Dancing Queen or King

It's time to get your salsa on with us at the Westshore YMCA!

We'll be offering a salsa and cha-cha dance lessons with expert instructors on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., as part of the Y's "Welcome Week" series. The instructors from Starz Ballroom will come dressed in traditional Latin attire to demonstrate and teach. They will also entertain us with two performances.

Dancing is a great way to get exercise, burn calories and relieve stress. Let's get the party started!
