Westlake Historical Society's rubber duck race returns

The Westlake Historical Society’s rubber duck race, silent auction, and old-fashioned pie contest will be held on Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Westlake Recreation Center. Rubber ducks can still be adopted on our website, www.westlakeohiohistory.org, or by calling 216-848-0680.

The winner of the rubber duck race will be awarded cash and merchandise prizes. The event promises to be a lot of fun and begins on Oct. 2 at noon.

The silent auction features over 30 themed baskets and items from different donors including theater tickets, movie night packages, event passes, adult beverages, and many other fantastic items. Donations for the silent auction are still welcome. Call Lysa at 216-848-0680 for information.

Also, there is still time to enter the pie contest to be held in conjunction with the duck race on Oct. 2. The pie contest was established in memory of Sophronia Clague, who loved to bake fruit pies. She especially liked peach pies, and was known for giving many of them away.

The 2021 pie contest is only for amateur bakers entering homemade dessert pies. You do need to be a resident of Westlake, and you need to drop off your entry at the Westlake Recreation Center Community Room by 1:00 p.m. on Oct. 2nd. We will have separate divisions for students and adults.

This is a free, family-friendly event with no admission charge. Proceeds benefit Clague House Museum utilities and maintenance expenses.

If you have any questions, please call the Clague House Museum at 216-848-0680, or email us at westlakehistory@yahoo.com
