Bay Garden Club introduces new format for holiday greening

Bay Village Garden Club co-president Holly Colleran with the arrangements available this year.

The pandemic has caused many cherished traditions to be disrupted, and Bay Village Garden Club’s Greening Workshops are among them. Beloved for many years, the Greening Workshops were joyful gatherings of friends and neighbors who loved to construct holiday wreaths, centerpieces, and other decorated items to grace their homes or give as gifts during the season. The price for the experience was minimal, and the delight in making a decoration with one’s own hands, priceless.

The Garden Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to service and support in our community. The Greening Workshop program is our only fundraiser. The money raised provides for city beautification with floral plantings, education geared to ecology and garden health, and service to shut-ins and cancer patients, as well as donations to Bay Food Ministry.

To keep Greening alive and continue our important service activities, the Garden Club developed a new Greening program.

This year, the Wreath, Centerpiece, and Boxwood Tree are all available as finished arrangements. The Centerpiece is also available as a kit you can build at home. The beautiful, creative designs can be pre-paid and ordered in advance until Nov. 22, and available for pickup Tuesday, Nov. 30, from noon until 3 p.m. at Bay Methodist Church, 29931 Lake Road.

Finished arrangements will be ready for sale to the public at the Cahoon Park Gazebo on Friday, Dec. 3, 2-5 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 4, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Pre-paid arrangements and kits not picked up Nov. 30 can be picked up during sale day hours. Please note, kits are available as pre-paid only and will not be offered for sale at the Gazebo. The cost for each finished arrangement and centerpiece kit is $40.

Order forms will be mailed to former Greening participants, and can be requested by emailing bvgardenclubohio@gmail.com, or calling 440-476-0259.

We appreciate the support of our community. Our goal is to return the appreciation and continue our support for Bay Village throughout the coming year.
